Is anyone else still reeling from LeMans?

I’m crushed for the Toyota boys and girls. Still in disbelief at the whole thing. Never seen LeMans be so cruel before.

That’s racing at Le Mans, though. You aren’t guaranteed anything until you cross the line after 24 hours of racing.

You’ve got to hand it to Porsche though, they put up a hell of a fight, and the #2 raced without any issues. Had Porsche’s strategy been better they would have led the race and Toyota would never have been crushed like that.

I mean, sure, Le Mans does serve a death penalty, but right now, I’m not sure that’s the worst sentence any team may receive.

I’m still in shock, to be honest. I can’t believe that happened. I was getting ready to switch to the Grand Prix, but when it happened I just stared at my screen for a good 10mns before I could do anything.

Never in my life have I cared less about an F1 race. And I’ve watched the 2005 US Grand Prix.

I think a DNF on the last lap of a 24 hour race would be crushing no matter what position you were in.

I’ll admit I’m trying hard to think of any late race failure that can even be discussed with Toyota for empathy. There’s a few factors here that make this worse. It’d be one thing if Audi lost this way. Audi has won 13 of the last 16 Le Mans (now 17). It would have been a crushing defeat, but it would have been a defeat for a team who has been there many times before.

This isn’t Toyota’s first run at Le Mans in the prototype class. This also isn’t their first good chance to win either. Stack their lack of overall success with the fact that not only do they not win but they also don’t get classified in the results losing out on the podium entirely and it’s the worst possible outcome.

For the record the ONLY thing I can come up with that potentially matches what Toyota is going through is one of Dale Sr's late race tire blow outs at the 500 before he won one. I know he wrecked in the lead a couple of times, but I also seem to recall a late race blowout that's more akin to what Toyota is going through.

Oh no doubt it's crushing, but I don't think anything was "robbed" from Toyota. What happened was not not intentional, nor anyone's fault.

Best day ever!

Toyota makes crap cars, and they don’t honor their warranty. I hope they never win Le Mans.
